A week ago my home lightened-up with the presence of a cute 1 year old male-cat. I adopted it and it still struggles with the idea of a new home. Better said, we both try to get used with someone else presence around us. But, until now the experience of living with a pet is amazing. However, the little fellow kind of accustomed with his new home and started to act like a rebel cat. Because I forgot to cut his nails, Choco started to make his pedicure on my leather sofa! I got shocked! Living with a pet is not that amazing anymore, but I love the cat more than I love sitting on the couch.
Hence, I argued my cat about his bad deed (didn’t give a damn), and I started looking for solutions in repairing those ugly scratches. However, I don’t want this bad habit to repeat again and I have to cover all its traces.
So, I just want to say that these days the internet is amazing. You can find solutions to almost everything, including fixing cat scratches on leather. Surprisingly, they work amazing and you don’t have to spend money on expensive leather restoring products.
Seems that olive oil will do the job! I read on several websites and this ordinary ingredient is perfect in lubricating the leather. Has logic! Leather and skin is elastic due to body oils…so olive oil will produce a fake elasticity which will restore it’s cracky and flaky condition.
You need:
- Olive oil
- Microfiber cloth
- Paper towels
I am thrilled with the outcome.
I used a soft cloth to rub the olive oil into the leather in circles. I think the key is really rubbing it in. I followed up with a paper towel and buffed it off a bit. I was a bit worried about oil residue on the leather, but the paper towel buffing revealed there was no oil left on surface of leather. A few weeks later it still looks awesome. There are a few deeper marks that are still somewhat visible, but it looks tons better than it did. The oil also brought back the rich tone of the leather a bit.
