Every housewife wants whity-white laundry, and I’m sure that every one of them knows a little secret. So, I asked a few neighbors the other days about their methods in whitening the laundry, and some of them turn in being extremely effective without ruining the fabric.
But the most effective whitening remedy, because I’ve tested each of them, is the one below based on boric acid. It will effectively remove any type of stain without damaging the fabric.
You will need:
- 20 g of boric acid
- 10 liters of water
How to proceed:
- Dissolve the boric acid in water.
- Soak the laundry in this solution and leave it there for 2 or 3 hours.
- Then put the laundry in the washer and wash them as usual.
Other methods:
- Boiling
This old but effective method is recommended only for flax and cotton fabrics. Just put the clothes to boil in a big pot for 20 minutes. All stains will be gone.
- Hydrogen peroxide
Dissolve 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide in 2 liters of water. Soften the laundry for 15 minutes, and then put them in the washer to a normal washing cycle. It’s an effective method for yellowed laundry.
- Aspirin
Dissolve 6 aspirin tablets in 7 liters of water and put the laundry in this solution (it would be best to leave them soaked overnight). The next day put them in the washer.
- Baking soda
Dissolve 6 tablespoons of baking soda in 6 liters of water. Put the clothes to soak in this solution for 3 hours, and then put them in the washer to a normal cycle. This method is suitable for synthetic fabrics.
