I am just another pet lover in this world and Rocky, a tiny teckel, brings joy into my life with his waggly tail. He’s simply adorable! But, as any other pet, Rocky has a problem with his bladder: sometimes he pees on the carpet, hardwood flooring, bed and sofa instead going outside. He’s a bit hard-headed and it will take a while until I’ll train him completely to pee outside.

Since Rocky’s favorite place to pee is behind the closet on my hardwood flooring, I have to clean the area completely to prevent further damaging. It seems that the best way to clean pee out of hardwood surfaces is using an enzyme stain removal. But, instead purchasing and paying a fortune on them, you can try a homemade enzyme cleaner to remove those urine stains from hardwood flooring and carpet. And the changes are to have the ingredients already in your kitchen cabinets.

Ingredients Needed:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 mild dish soap

How to prepare:

Place the ingredients in a clean spray bottle and shake vigorously to mix. Spray the solution onto the stain, rubbing it in lightly with a clean cloth and allow it to stand for about 15 minutes. Rinse the solution away with a damp cloth and allow to dry thoroughly.

This homemade enzyme cleaner works wonders in removing pet urine stains out of carpets and hardwood flooring. As a matter of fact it is also great if you use it for textile sofa.

If you are petting a cat, especially male cat and you’re facing with a pee accident, the situation changes and you will deal with a pungent smell and black stain on the hardwood floor. In this regard you can use a stronger enzyme cleaner especially designed for male cat urine.

You Need:

  • hydrogen peroxide
  • rag
  • plastic wrap

How to use:

Pour the hydrogen peroxide over the stain and then cover it with a clean cloth soaked in hydrogen peroxide. Cover the cloth with plastic wrap, weighting it with a book if necessary. Allow this to sit overnight or for at least 8 hours. The hydrogen peroxide should remove any stains and eliminate the urine odor.

Keep in mind: Before and using the hydrogen peroxide solution you should apply the fist homemade enzyme urine cleaner based on vinegar.
