Maintaining sanity as a mother of two boys is a bit challenging, especially when you get back home after an exhausting day at work and you see the walls painted with wax pencils and the dinning upholstery chairs full of mud. Yes, this was my home panorama a few days ago. When creativity blows your mind, you tend to show it in every possible ways, but what about my upholstery chairs?

Removing those waxy colored pencils out of the walls wasn’t so difficult (with a blow dryer and some paper towels the job was done), but cleaning the upholstery chairs required some research, because washing them in the tub (as I first intended to do) wasn’t an option.

So, after removing the mud with a brush, I prepared the following homemade upholstery cleaning solution and start cleaning the muddy stains. It worked wonders, because my upholstery dining chairs are usable again! The great thing is that you need some mundane ingredients which, I’m sure that you already have in your kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of Dawn Dish Soap
  • 1 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Spray bottle
  • Microfiber cloth or rag

How to prepare:

Pour the above ingredients in the spray bottle and mix them well until the dish soap is dissolved.

How to use:

Spray this solution on small portions. Removing the stains one step at a time will be more effective than trying to remove it the whole stain at once.

Now, let this homemade cleaner to soak for a few minutes, and then take the microfiber cloth and rub the upholstery on small portions. It will take only a few seconds and you’ll get your sanity back.

Tip: if the fabric is soapy, you can wet the microfiber cloth and blot the area.
