Like cleaning vomit from the car seats wasn’t enough, Jason, my older boy, spilled coke on the car seats, his clothes, even on the dog. My car looks like a dumpster. You can find in it everything from breadcrumbs to puke and now, coke. Of course, and some dog hair in between this mix!
Well, this is a stage of parenting! Who said it was easy. Since taking the car to the carwash isn’t a solution for me – it will save me some money – I buckled up with some energy and start cleaning my car inch by inch. I kind of made it, but let me tell the precise process in removing the coke stain, because it won’t go only with cleaning products.
Grab some materials:
- Paper towels
- Spray bottle
- Cool water
- 1 cup of baking soda
- 1 cup of warm water
- Toothbrush
- Clean cloth
This should work for the moment!
- One of the most important things is to dilute the stain with water. Spray cool water over the stain and blot it with paper towels. Even if the coke stain is old, pour water over it to loosen it a bit so that you can tackle it with the following methods. Remember: sprinkle cool water and blot!
- The next move is to make a paste from baking soda and warm water and apply the paste over the stain. Use the toothbrush so you can gently apply the paste using brushing motions. Leave the paste to act for half an hour or so. Meanwhile you can clean other parts of your car.
- Return to your coke stain and use the cloth to blot the area. This way you’ll remove the baking soda paste from the car seat.
- Let dry naturally and return to the crime scene. If the stain isn’t gone, call on the vinegar!
- Mix 1 cup of vinegar with a few squirts of dish detergent and 3 cups of warm water in a spray bottle, then spray the solution over the stain and rub it with a cloth. You can use a textile brush to work the cleaning solution better into the stain. Let it act for 15 more minutes then use paper towel to dab the stain. Let it air dry. This time the coke stain should be long gone.
