When is new, machine is working at full capacity, the clothes are clean and they have a fresh scent that lasts a long time, but as time goes on inside the tank an unpleasant odor occur. The problem wouldn’t be that big if this odor wouldn’t be transferred to laundry. There are several ways you can remove the smell inside the washing machine.
1. Select the program that uses hot water
Lately, big detergents companies have created products able to clean clothes at low temperatures, but you should know that the constant use of these programs leads to bacterial growth inside the washing machine tank.
Bacteria are responsible for producing odor inside the washer. When you have clothes that support hot water is indicated to use the highest temperature program to kill the bacteria inside.
2. Always keep the door open
Moisture inside the washing machine favors the unpleasant odors, so after each wash, you should leave the door open.
3. Use less balm
The balm is ideal for scenting laundry items, but, used regularly, will leave residues that favor bad odors. Even if you’re accustomed using conditioner on every wash, if you reduce the number of uses, you can prevent unpleasant odors.
4. Clean detergent and fabric softener compartments
At least once a month, it’s advisable to remove the detergent and conditioner compartment and wash it with hot water. No matter how carefully you are when you pour the detergent into the compartment, it always happens to spill a few drops in the adjacent compartments. Detergent and conditioner’s residues emanate unpleasant smells, so it’s advisable to wash the compartment often.
5. Clean the washing machine with baking soda
Once a month, it’s better to use a special treatment to clean the washing machine. Without placing any clothes inside the vat, just add 2 tablespoons of baking soda in the detergent compartment and set the highest temperature program. Let the program run because baking soda can destroy the bacteria.
