Lipsticks stains and other oils-based eye shadow are pretty hard to remove from fabrics if you don’t know some useful tricks.
Don’t rush to throw stained clothes in the washer without cleaning and degreasing them properly, otherwise, you may say goodbye of that stained garment. Once the garment gets into contact with water and laundry detergents, the lipstick or eye shadow stain will go deep into the fabric, making a hard-to-remove stain.
How to get rid of makeup and mascara stains
In a basin put a teaspoon of dish detergent and warm water. Now, soak the stained garment for 2-3 hours, until the stain fades away, and then put it in the washer, and wash it as usual.
Another option is to dab these stains with a cotton pad soaked in rubbing alcohol, and then easily hand wash the stained area. Put the garment in the washer to a normal cycle and the stain will definitely disappear.
How to remove lipstick stains from clothes
You need:
- duct tape
- dish soap
Apply the duct tape over the lipstick stains to remove excess, and then soak the stained area in dish soap with water to remove the grease. Now, put the garment piece in the washer and start a normal cycle.
Be careful not to rub the lipstick stain with wet towels because it will get into the fabric.
Another effective solution is rubbing alcohol or vodka. Dab the lipstick stains with a cotton pad soaked in rubbing alcohol or vodka to dissolve the oils and lipstick pigments.
Important! Dab and don’t rub the stain, otherwise you will spread the stain instead of removing it.
How to remove foundation and other makeup stains
If you stained you stained your clothes with foundation, you need:
- talcum powder
- paper towel
- hairspray
Just sprinkle some talcum powder over the stain, cover it with the paper towel and start ironing the stain.
The talc powder will absorb the grease, and the stain that remains can then be removed if you spray it with hairspray, and then dab it with a paper towel.
